 The first workshop for the OpenMRS Mozambique collaboration was held February 4-5, 2014 in Maputo, Mozambique. It was a great turnout of people from many different organizations that are interested in the development and implementation of OpenMRS in the health facilities in the country. Organizations represented included MISAU, CDC, Friends in Global Health (FGH), ICAP, EGPAF, CCS, ARIEL, CHASS-NIASSA, CHASS-SMT, CHAI, MSF, I-TECH, UCSF, and M-OASIS/JEMBI. Those joining the community have a variety of skills to contribute, including leadership, program and project management, IT and developer skill sets, and monitoring and evaluation skills. We are excited that we have such a diverse, talented group of people to move forward with! During the workshop we focused on the Implementation Planning Guide, giving an overview of the steps to be planned for in an EPTS implementation and the amount of resources that should be allocated to the project. We also discussed the Terms of Reference for the community and a draft schedule for a series of working sessions for the next 6 months. The next working session will be held 20 February 2014 at the I-TECH offices in Maputo, Mozambique. The morning session will focus on technical aspects of OpenMRS and the afternoon session will focus on implementation topics. Please look for an email soon outlining the specific agendas for the sessions. Lastly, the community has voted on a new Mozambican name for the shared system - eSaude.
